Help needed for idle surge issue after exhaust swap

Recently swapped the exhaust on my 04 R6 with 12K miles for a quieter option to tone down the noise. Now, the RPMs surge at idle once the bike warms to around 130 degrees. My hunch is that the new exhaust may be affecting the back pressure or fuel-air mix. Could tweaking the air control valves help with this?

that's a good hunch it and could be the problem. you should check foir vacuum leaks or the idle air control valve, both could be a problem

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! I checked for vacuum leaks and inspected the idle air control valve and sure enough the issue was resolved. The bike is idling smoothly again.

Did you have to clean or replace the idle air control valve, or was just inspecting it enough to resolve the issue?

I just saw your question on my old thread from spring. It was clogged with carbon after years of use. I took the IAC valve off the throttle bodies and cleaned it with carburetor cleaner until the plunger moved freely. After putting it back, the idle surge disappeared and hasn't come back all summer.
