Ignition coil brand recommendations?

My older brother handed me down his 2016 Yamaha R6 and I've been inspecting it for some repair. The ignition coils got some crack and corrosion so I'm thinking of replacing them.

I don't really have a big budget dedicated for this.. I asked around and someone offered me secondhand OEM coils for $220. I prefer OEM but another guy offered me new aftermarket coils for $135 - $150. It's almost a $100 price difference so it's really tempting.

Before I make a final purchase, I wanted to see if there are reliable aftermarket brands? What else should I look into, or should I just go for the secondhand OEM?

Honestly its a hit or miss kinda thing when buying second hands unless your seller is allergic to lying. You can try some generic ones from Ebay or Amazon, theyre cheap but you could get lucky.

Just make sure the aftermarket coils are authentic and have good warranty before you secure the deal.

Denso's good. Also, Energycoil but they're pricey

agree with you, a used OEM cost $220 is a big no. Too much money for a gamble on used electrical.
New Aftermarket @ $135-$150: YES. This is the way to go.
Reliable Aftermarket Brands: Look for Denso, NGK, or even RMStator if they make R6 coils
if you still hesitate check reviews from other R6 owners

Dynatek or Rick's are good. Just make sure they're made for your exact model. OEM is great, but $220 for used ones is too much, especially when new aftermarket ones cost less. But honestly, just go for the cheapest one you can find, it doesnt really matter, its just ignition coils.

Thanks for this! Have you noticed any difference in spark strength or throttle response between brands?

If youre on a tight budget, some aftermarket ignition coils can be a decent option, but quality really varies by brand. Stick with reputable ones like Dynatek or NGK if you go that route.
