Unknown wire near ECU on my R6

I'm working on my 2017 Yamaha R6 and found a wire with a strange plug near the ECU. My brother thinks it's for a piggyback tuner but I'm not sure if that's right. Has anyone seen this before?

That could be for a piggyback tuner or diagnostic tool, but the only way to know for sure is to match it with the service manual or check with a Yamaha dealer, they'll confirm its exact purpose.

Is it a 6-pin connector, usually white or gray, got a little cap on it, and located right under the rider seat, near the ECU?
Because it sounds like you're talking about the diagnostic port though a lot of people do tap into it for things like a piggyback tuner or a quick shifter.
Its real main purpose is for diagnostics using the Yamaha factory tool.
If your bike is stock, it should just have a little plug in it, but if it's not, maybe a previous owner messed with it..

That wire is likely not for a piggyback tuner, most mystery plugs near the ECU are actually OEM diagnostic or accessory connectors, so plugging into it without confirmation could cause issues

@King_Up_Da_Road and @Perfect Design suggest that this is the OEM diagnostic port, not an aftermarket one. The plug I found has a cap and is situated right under the seat, near the ECU, just as @King_Up_Da_Road mentioned. My bike is mostly stock but since I bought it used, someone might have tapped into it before. I'm going to hold off on connecting anything until I can check the service manual or ask a dealer, like @Matt Edisa suggested. Has anyone here used that port for a quick shifter or tuner? If so, did you need to rewire anything or use an adapter harness? I'll look at the wiring diagram this weekend.
