the R6 I plan on buying seems a bit shady so I want to get your input on the matter. Is there a way I can check if a panel has been repainted or not? If it has been, should I assume the worst that the bike's been in an accident or should I write it off as the previous owner trying to freshen things up?

If you dont think the colors match the original then its most probably repainted, question is for what reason? Paint retouch or accident, did you ask the previous ownera at least?

Accident could be the worse yes, but it could also be just a minor repaint because of minor scratches. So i agree with johndesi here, ask away. You deserve to know for sure.

hmm...If you suspect the panels have been repainted, you can check for overspray in hard to reach areas, like around the seams or under the tank, then paint inconsistencies too, like mismatched shades or texture differences, on a flip side it doesn't always mean it's been wrecked if its been repainted, yunno sometimes owners just want to refresh the look, still take a deeper look tho

Repainting without telling you why? That's real shady. You're right to doubt so I suggest get a move on and find a better deal.

You can usually tell if a panel's been repainted by checking for overspray or uneven color. A repaint doesn't always mean a crash bro, it could just be the owner freshening it up. I would always love to repaint mine if needed.
